In 1946, Sebago was founded by three New England natives: Daniel J. Wellehan, William Beaudoin, and Joseph Cordeau. Sebago’s first shoe was a hand-sewn penny loafer, which was influenced by the Indian moccasin. By 1954, Sebago celebrated their production of a million shoes.
